One of the reasons Asbury had begun to turn around was the reported number of Gay and Lesbians who took the initiative to come to Asbury Park. They moved here permanently or just for the season. They  have opened or are opening restaurants,  gift and antiques shops in the vicinity of the Boardwalk, Cookman Avenue and Main Street.

The talk is that Asbury will eventually become the largest Gay community along the east coast. And it's a good thing. Large and small homes are being renovated to their former glory. New restaurants are opening.  A new Asbury Park.
